WiMAX Development in Asia February 28 - March 6

- Taiwanese HTC released its first WiMAX Smartphone HTC EVO WiMAX in Japan on February 28, 2011, according to the China Times of Taiwan. To be distributed by UQ Communications, a subsidiary of the Japanese telecom operator KDDI, the Smartphone is reported to run on Android OS with a 4.3-inch screen.

- Korean telecom operator KT announced on March 2, 2011 that the company has expanded its Wibro coverage to 82 cities in Korea, according to the Korea Joongang Daily. KT also plans to introduce tablet devices, a Smartphone, and notebook PCs with Wibro connectivity by this summer. It is reported that Samsung will supply a Wibro version of its Galaxy Tab to KT.
